Why UNE
[UNE] was a great opportunity [for me]. I wanted to go somewhere where I'd be able to make new friends and connections with people. 91Ö±²¥ÊÓƵis very inclusive. Even if you feel left out, if you just take that first step, you have many options to not only meet people, but take different courses [as well], and obviously you have the location. I didn't know what I wanted to do at first, but I knew there were options here that I could fit in with.
Beyond the Classroom
The [CAS internship] program was straightforward and very helpful. [Through the CAS Internship Office] you get to see [your] progress and it makes you realize there's a purpose behind what you're doing rather than just a job. I was trying to find an internship that would combine not only being able to be talkative, but also I’d get to show off my personality and some of the things I can do. I joined the loan servicing team at Kennebec Savings Bank for the summer as a banker assistant.
[Having the internship] helped me know what to focus on [for my career] — knowing if I want to work in this type of setting. I know I want to own a bank or run a bank one day, it’s something I look forward to.
