91直播视频Campus Center now showcasing encaustic paintings by Saco artist Pamela Browne
On display now at the 91直播视频Campus Center in Biddeford is a series of 22 encaustic pieces from Saco-based artist Pamela Browne.
The exhibit, 鈥淚nspired by Nature,鈥 makes use of the ancient encaustic painting method, which uses a combination of beeswax, damar resin, and pigment. Paints are melted on a warm palette and applied to warm surfaces, and each layer is fused to the layer before it with a heat gun or torch.
鈥淚 particularly love the encaustic medium for its luminosity, depth, and texture,鈥 Browne remarked. 鈥淎rt gives me the opportunity to let go and be one with the world. When I paint, I receive a spiritual experience that gives me peace, clarity, and purpose.鈥
Hailing from Baltimore and moving to Maine in 1992, Browne has worked in administration for the York County Shelter Program for many years in addition to raising her three children. For over five years, she has been painting and displaying her art throughout Maine, from Damariscotta to Kittery.
鈥淚nspired by Nature鈥 will be on display at the Campus Center through May 25.
