Abbie Bagnoli and Mackenzie Burke were both honored recently at the Maine Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (MAHPERD) awards ceremony as 2022 Outstanding Future Professionals.

Bagnoli and Burke are seniors majoring in applied exercise science with a minor in coaching. Burke also has a minor in mental health rehabilitation.

MAHPERD is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all Mainers by supporting and promoting effective educational practices, quality curriculum, and instruction in the areas of health, physical education, recreation, dance and related fields.

Bagnoli and Burke were nominated by Katie Hawke, M.S., clinical professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Performance. Hawke serves on MAHPERD鈥檚 executive board.

Two 91直播视频faculty members made presentations at the MAHPERD ceremony. Lyndie Kelley, B.S., adjunct professor and coordinator of Strength and Conditioning, gave a presentation with Bagnoli and Burke on 鈥淭he Building Blocks of Writing a Youth Strength and Conditioning Program.鈥

Heath Pierce, M.Ed., RSCC*D, CSCS*D, NSCA-CPT*D, ACSM EP-C, interim assistant dean of the Westbrook College of Health Professions and the director of Applied Exercise Science, made a presentation on 鈥淭he Plyometric Conditioning Continuum 鈥 If You Can Jump You Need to Land.鈥

The ceremony was recently held at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine.
