UNE鈥檚 Ali Ahmida featured on Californian radio segment on Libyan affairs

Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor of political science, recently spoke on KPFA Radio about current Libyan affairs.

Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in and founding chair of the Department of Political Science at the 91直播视频, recently gave an interview on KPFA Radio in Berkeley, California, to discuss the current status of Libyan relations.

Ahmida called into the show 鈥淰oices of the Middle East and North Africa鈥 about the ongoing crisis in Libya and the contributing factors to the country鈥檚 civil war.

鈥淭he Libyan crisis is not [just] an internal civil war, like in other countries. It is also the product of regional and international intervention,鈥 Ahmida said. 鈥淓verybody knows [that], but no one wants to really admit it has been a factor.鈥

Ahmida is an expert on North African and Libyan relations.

Late last year, Ahmida twice traveled overseas to offer his expertise 鈥 once as an external examiner to a doctoral dissertation at the University of Oxford in England and later in a panel discussion on Libyan affairs in Tunis, Tunisia.

Ahmida is additionally one of three scholars chosen by the United Nations to work on The Libya Socioeconomic Dialogue Project. 

The project is designed to provide a platform for a broad and inclusive range of Libyan experts and stakeholders to jointly formulate a long-term future vision for the socioeconomic development of Libya and to devise policy options that would enable Libyan decision-makers to realize that vision.
