91Ö±²¥ÊÓƵ (HWOS) student Desirae LeBlanc ’17 is hitting the slopes this winter with participants of Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation as part of her senior internship project. Maine Adaptive offers summer and winter adaptive sports and recreation programs for adults and children with physical disabilities, including skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, canoeing, cycling, golf, tennis, and more.

LeBlanc is currently volunteering with participants of the adaptive skiing and snowboarding program. As part of her internship, she is conducting a qualitative research project with Maine Adaptive participants to explore the meaning and impact that adaptive winter recreation has on their lives. HWOS Assistant Clinical Professor & Internship Coordinator, Collyn Baeder, M.P.H., is serving as the faculty advisor for the project.
