Senator Susan Collins lauds 91直播视频SNAP-Ed program manager for testimony about senior nutrition

Elizabeth Pratt, M.P.H., Program Manager of the Maine Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Education Program (SNAP-Ed) at the 91直播视频 testified before the Senate Aging Committee in Washington, D.C. on July 12, 2017.

The hearing, led by Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), examined the importance of proper nutrition for seniors, public health perspectives on food security and hunger in seniors, and the challenges that arise with changing demographics. It also highlighted the work done by various public and private programs aimed at providing proper nutrition for seniors.

A press release from Collins鈥 quoted Pratt鈥檚 testimony, in which she explained how the SNAP-Ed program complements SNAP: 鈥淪NAP gives a family a fish, while SNAP-Ed teaches a family to fish.鈥 The release goes on to state that SNAP-Ed has reached more than 3,000 seniors in Maine through integrated programs in rural and urban adult training sites, grocery stores, elderly service centers, public housing sites and churches.
