In addition to attending lectures, scientific sessions, hands-on workshops and networking events, Elmisalati and Khandelwal participated in the Annual Predoctoral Educators Workshop and Postdoctoral Directors Business Meeting.
This year鈥檚 meeting held special significance as it was a collaborative effort of the American Academy of Periodontology, Japanese Society of Periodontology and the Japanese Academy of Clinical Periodontology. As Japan is considered a 鈥渟uper-aged nation,鈥 with more than 20% of the population over age 65, periodontists in the country have worked to innovate periodontal regenerative therapy for elder populations.
Reflecting on the event, Elmisalati and Khandelwal said that it was a valuable opportunity, giving them exposure to the most recent advancements and cutting edge technology in the fields of periodontics and implant dentistry.
