International College of Dentists names Dr. Joseph Kenneally international president elect
Joseph Kenneally '76, DMD, has been named international president elect of the International College of Dentists (ICD), the oldest and largest international honorary dental organization in the world.
Kenneally, a member of the 91直播视频 Board of Trustees and a 1976 alumnus, is a practice partner of Kenneally & Steed Family Dental Practice in Biddeford, Maine.
Established in 1928, the ICD has over 12,000 members (designated as fellows), around the globe. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and is granted in recognition of a dentist鈥檚 鈥渙utstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and dedication to the continued progress of dentistry for the benefit of humankind.鈥 Councilors and officers of the International Council gathered in Chengdu, China, September 26-27 for the annual council meeting and election.
鈥淚 look forward to expanding the humanitarian reach of the International College of Dentists into areas of the world where we have not had a strong presence, particularly Africa, Russia, and the Middle East,鈥 said Kenneally after the announcement. 鈥淚 am excited about the opportunity to work with my fellow officers President Woong Yang of Korea, Vice President Phillip Dowell of the UK, Treasurer Clive Ross of New Zealand, and Editor Dov Sydney of Israel, for the betterment of the public health and the promotion of the dental profession worldwide.鈥
Kenneally received his DMD from Tufts University and has been in private practice for over 30 years. He is a member of the American Dental Association; Maine Dental Association; York County Dental Society; American Colleges of Dentists; ICD; Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry; Academy of Practice in Dentistry; American College of Dentists; and Pierre Fauchard Academy.
He has served in numerous leadership roles in professional dentistry, including past president of the Maine Dental Association and past vice president and council chair of the American Dental Association.
Kenneally received the UNE/St.St. Francis College Alumni Association's Alumni Achievement Award in 2011. He has been a longtime volunteer at the Biddeford Free Clinic. Among his many other honors are the Yankee Dental Congress James W. Etherington Award in 2010, recognizing his lifetime service to the dental profession; the Distinguished Deputy Regent award by the ICD USA Section; and the MDA Honor Wall.
Kenneally and his wife Lisa Howard, DDS, an orthodontist, have four grown children together and live in Kennebunk, Maine.
