91直播视频neuroscientist Dr. Robert Lenox appointed to NIH advisory panel on drug abuse
Robert H. Lenox, M.D., professor of pharmacology and clinical neurosciences and chair of behavioral health and clinical neurosciences at the 91直播视频 College of Osteopathic Medicine, has been appointed to the National Institutes of Health National Advisory Council on Drug Abuse.
In this role, Dr. Lenox and other council members provide advice to the NIH director concerning pertinent programs, including reviewing and making recommendations regarding grant applications to support biomedical research and research training activities.
In this connection, council members have the benefit of the technical and scientific advice of the expert consultants who performed the initial review of the grant applications for scientific merit.
Another important responsibility of the council is the survey of the total research effort in the subject field and the recommendation of the action necessary to stimulate additional work.
Dr. Lenox, who is also a faculty member with UNE's Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences, has had a distinguished academic research and teaching career for over 25 years as a respected psychiatrist and neuroscientist with continuous NIH grant funding and more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, as well as reviews and book chapters, in the fields of molecular neuropharmacology and clinical psychopharmacology.
He is also the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and honors that recognize his contributions to medicine, including the NARSAD Distinguished Investigator Award, editor-in-chief of Neuropsychopharmacology, Life Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, and Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
