Kneka Smith, Karen Pardue and Clay Graybeal make presentations at the American Dental Education Association's Annual Conference

Kneka Smith, Associate Dean, College of Dental Medicine, Karen Pardue, Associate Dean & Clay Graybeal, Associate Dean, Westbrook College of Health Professions will make two presentations this week at the American Dental Education Association's annual conference in San Diego, March 12-16.  The first is a "New Idea" session, and the second will be a three-hour faculty development workshop:

"Reader鈥檚 Theater: The Use of Arts and Humanities in Promoting Interprofessional Education"
Monday, March 14

Participants will be afforded a brief history of the method and integration of Reader鈥檚 Theater at the 91直播视频. An excerpt of an actual reading will be demonstrated, followed by a short group discussion modeling approaches to interprofessional education. Attendees of this workshop will have the opportunity to consider approaches to actualize this novel pedagogical strategy at their own educational institutions.

"Interprofessional Education:  A Comprehensive Framework & A Decade of Experience"

The presenters will share more than a decade of experience, including what's worked and what hasn't, leading to the establishment of the IPE Collaborative, a university-wide IPE strategic plan, a common curriculum for the first two years of five undergraduate health programs, combined IPE orientation, IPE Grand Rounds, IPE Human Simulation, utilizing arts and humanities in health professions education, international IPE, and several models of IPE clinical education.  Participants will be able to explore strategies for developing IPE principles in teaching, learning, practice, clinical site development, and research at their home institutions.
