Ali Ahmida interviewed for CNN story on Libyan stalemate

Ali Abdullatif Ahmida, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Department of Political Science, was interviewed by for an April 21, 2011 story titled 'Can Libya's lethal stalemate be broken?' The story looks at the fading optimism for a quick resolution to the Libyan conflict between rebel forces and those of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi.

Ahmida tells CNN that he has said all along it is not going to be easy.

"As much as he would like to see Libya prosper under freedom, Ahmida, a professor at the 91直播视频, said he cannot support a NATO invasion.'I am against any military intervention in Libya,' he said. 'The people are wary of that. They had a horrible colonial experience and the generation of independence made a big mistake by aligning so closely with the United Kingdom and the United States.'"

Since the North African and Middle Eastern uprisings began in January, Ahmida has been interviewed by a number of media outlets, including NPR's Morning Edition and Charlie Rose show, CBC Radio Canada, KPFK Pacifica Radio, Los Angeles, WBEZ Chicago Public Media, Mother Jones magazine and more. Ahmida, who was born in Libya, is the author of The Making of Modern Libya: State Formation, Colonialization and Resistance, and several other books on Libya and North Africa.
