ran a story on June 16 and 17, 2010 on the Maine-Harvard Prevention Research Center's move to UNE, where it has become a part of UNE's Center for Community and Public Health. Karen O'Rourke, deputy director of the Center for Community and Public Health, told MPBN that a university setting means additional resources for the Maine-Harvard. "For example, we have access to students to help with research initiatives," O'Rourke says. "We have access to additional researchers. We'll have expertise for example here around looking at claims data and a few other things." Among its activities over the next year, the Maine-Harvard center plans to evaluate Maine's first-in-the-nation law to prohibit junk food advertising in schools and expand a child-care-center physical activity and nutrition programs.
