2009 Undergraduate Arts & Sciences Symposium presents student research and projects

The 91直播视频 2009 Undergraduate Arts and Sciences Symposium will be held Wednesday, April 29th on the University Campus in Biddeford.

This symposium allows students and faculty members to present their research, classroom projects, art work, or other work done at 91直播视频in either an oral presentation, poster presentation, or artistic display format.

Presentations

More than 65 oral presentations are scheduled ranging from the "Use of Acoustic Telemetry to Track Atlantic Sturgeon Movement Patterns in the Saco River" to "Madness in Literature," from "Treating Alzheimer's Disease with Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitors" to "The Economy & the Environment in Guatamala."

There are also more than 50 poster sessions ranging from "Artwork Display - Will o' the Wisp Lives" to "Influence of Nucleotide Loop Length on Model DNA Hairpin Loop Stability."

Honors Presentations

Oral presentations included Honors presentations on "Design, Sythesis & Evaluation of Novel Naltrexol Derivatives for Potential Use as Addiction Therapies" by Andrea Pelotte (Chemistry & Physics) , "Temporal Variations of the Fish Assemblage within the Saco River Estuarine Ecosystem: Determining the Role of this Habitat in the Life History of Nektonic Species" by Nathan Furey (Biology), and "Early Indication of Thermal Stress in the Intertidal Gastropod Nucella lapillus" by Emily Zimmermann (Biology).

There will also be a presentation from students in the Department of Business & Communications reporting on a 91直播视频student survey regarding campus athletic facilities.

Judges were present, and monetary awards were given to the best projects.
